Though I’ve always liked the idea of cleansing, and have been able to see the potential benefits behind such a thing, I’ve never been able to quite work up the motivation (or the guts?) to actually do one. But that changes today as I get started on my first 7-day #summersolsticecleanse2015! I’m a little nervous, but I’m way more excited…and what changed? Well, the parameters of this cleanse seem doable to me; I’m not (as) worried about being hungry, and I have a group to help support me along. How did this come about? Through a friend who leads these cleanses. She is a Registered Nurse and has been cleansing for years – and she has done all the trial and error (thanks Kathy!) 🙂 We featured her on the Vegan Mainstream Cookbook Club, and it inspired me and made me think, YES I can do this! So here I am.
After the first day (today), where I drink Miracle Juice all day (a concoction of spices, water, cranberry juice and a couple of other fruit juices), which will apparently completely flush out my system, I can drink juices, smoothies, and eat raw fruit/ salads to my heart’s content – which sounds to me not like deprivation, but a bit like being at a spa (we’ll see if I still feel that way a couple days in!) This juice is actually pretty tasty; however, I can see that I will be ready to drink something different tomorrow. Nevertheless, so far so good (she says with a whole 1/2 morning under her belt)! 🙂
